DESCRIPTION:Ben Koch will chair a discussion on “What Can We Expect to Learn from Black Holes in the Context of Quantum Gravity?” \nAbstract:\nI will provide a brief overview of our current understanding of the classical and semiclassical description of black holes. \nIn the context of quantum gravity\, several important questions arise that we hope to discuss:\nWhich of these features will survive in a full quantum-gravity framework?\nWhich open problems might be resolved by such a framework?\nCan black holes point the way toward a fundamental theory of quantum gravity?\nWhat signatures\, if any\, could eventually become accessible to observation or experiment? \nMeeting link will be sent by email.
