SUMMARY:WG5 online meeting
DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Prof. Jerzy Kowalski-Glikman. \nTitle of the talk:\nArea Fluctuations in Quantum Gravity: From Theory to Phenomenology and Back\n Abstract:\nA few years ago\, E. Verlinde and K. Zurek proposed that if area fluctuations in quantum gravity scale proportionally with the area itself\, then their effects could\, in principle\, be detected using currently available technologies. This idea resonates with a longstanding insight\, dating back to Einstein\, that (quantum) fluctuations can encode crucial and potentially observable information about otherwise inaccessible microscopic properties. In this talk\, I will first discuss the phenomenological implications of the Verlinde–Zurek relation. I will then argue that\, from a theoretical standpoint\, this relation lies at the very heart of quantum gravity. Finally\, I will address the central question: What is the entity that fluctuates\, and what are its physical properties? \nZoom link sent by email
