SELDOM is a high-energy physics research project lead by the PI Nicola Neri<\/a> and financed by the\u00a0European Research Council<\/a>\u00a0– Consolidator Grant n. 771642 – within the\u00a0Horizon 2020 Research & Innovation Program<\/a>. It is a 5 year project, started April 1st 2018, which aims to contribute to explain the puzzle of the absence of antimatter in the Universe. The results of the project will be published in open-access papers<\/a> and disseminated<\/a> to students and to the general public.<\/h4>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

SELDOM explores a new experimental method to decisively boost the study of the electric dipole moment (EDM) and magnetic dipole moment (MDM) of unstable particles at the LHCb experiment at CERN. To achieve this goal, a novel fixed-target experiment in front of the LHCb detector is proposed to measure the MDM and search for the EDM of short-lived charm baryons that are channeled in bent crystals. New experimental techniques have to be developed for the study of long-lived strange baryons decaying at the end of the LHCb magnet. The project works in synergy with the LHCb collaboration<\/a> and the CERN<\/a> laboratory, contributing to the upgrade of the apparatus and of the experimental techniques.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n\n
