Thermal neutrons are converted into alpha particles and lithium ions through capture processes on a borate cathode. The tubular geometry guarantees 360\u00b0 sensitivity and dimensions that allow easy coupling with moderator volumes to thermalize the neutrons and thus be sensitive to a wider energy range. The detector is equipped with single neutron-sensitive electronics. The present invention also concerns a method for manufacturing the detector, which allows \u00b5RWELL detectors to be adapted to tubular geometries with extreme radii of curvature of less than 10 cm.
