Attualmente tali strumenti non sono in grado di determinare la quantit\u00e0 di energia rilasciata a livello cellulare o sub-cellulare, rendendo inefficace la loro applicazione in quei campi in cui le valutazioni di tipo radiobiologico risultano indispensabili. L\u2019invenzione supera lo stato dell\u2019arte presentando un dosimetro costituito da un sistema di rivelatori, detto telescopio, capace di identificare il tipo di radiazione e di misurare la dose rilasciata su spessori o volumi micrometrici. La presenza di carburo di silicio, materiale estremamente resistente al danno da radiazione, \u00e8 uno dei punti di forza del dispositivo.
