Il sistema \u00e8 dotato di un\u2019interfaccia user-friendly e routine di calibrazione automatizzate, in modo da essere facilmente utilizzato sul campo anche da personale senza una specifica formazione in fisica medica. La microdosimetria misura la fluttuazione casuale del deposito energetico in un volume micrometrico, che \u00e8 strettamente correlata all\u2019efficacia biologica della radiazione. I rivelatori di riferimento sono i contatori proporzionali a gas tessuto-equivalenti (TEPC), cio\u00e8 costruiti con materiali aventi composizione elementale analoga a quella del tessuto biologico.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=&#8221;694&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221; qode_css_animation=&#8221;&#8221;][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]I due vantaggi principali rispetto ai rivelatori a stato solido sono l\u2019alta sensibilit\u00e0 garantita dal processo di valanga e la tessuto-equivalenza, che minimizza la perturbazione al campo di radiazione. attualmente esiste una sola azienda che commercializza TEPC, ma i modelli prodotti non sono adatti per l\u2019utilizzo nei centri di radioterapia, a causa delle loro dimensioni e\/o perch\u00e9 pensati per un ambiente di ricerca e quindi utilizzabili solo da personale con una formazione specifica in microdosimetria.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I TEPC miniaturizzati (mini-TEPC) sviluppati da INFN sono utilizzabili su fasci intensi; hanno diametri tali da poter essere inseriti in una cannula e consentono di misurare ad intensit\u00e0 almeno 200 volte pi\u00f9 alte rispetto ai modelli in commercio. Inoltre, hanno un preamplificatore integrato a basso rumore e ampio range dinamico (pi\u00f9 di 4 ordini di grandezza) per misurare l\u2019intero spettro di LET di interesse in adroterapia (0.2 \u2013 2000 keV\/\u00b5m).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Il rivelatore \u00e8 stato testato nel centro di protonterapia \u201cA.
