With this sensitivity the inverted hierarchy region of neutrino masses will be touched. The detector, which consists of a close-packed array of TeO2 crystals cooled to an operating temperature of about 10mK, just started taking data.<\/p><p>After a short introduction to the physics of neutrinoless double beta decay, the TeO2 bolometric technology including the results obtained since now. The status of CUORE and its perspectives will be discussed.
