HZB is an in Berlin, Germany, based research center, which belongs to Germany’s Helmholtz Society for large research infrastructure institutions and operates a third-generation synchrotron light source, a proton therapy cyclotron and a specialized light source for the German national institute of standards PTB (Physikalisch-Techniche Bundesanstalt). HZB’s research focus lies in the development of renewable energy sources, energy storage, functional materials and the advancement of accelerators for material research, especially light sources. In the framework of ISAS, HZB participates with the institute for accelerating systems, which mainly, but not exclusively, works for the development of superconducting RF accelerating structures and thereby joined the work packages for FE-FRT, LLRF and thin films (WP1-3).
