{"id":420,"date":"2022-03-10T12:11:00","date_gmt":"2022-03-10T11:11:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/web.infn.it\/strings\/?p=420"},"modified":"2022-03-11T21:36:13","modified_gmt":"2022-03-11T20:36:13","slug":"seminar-mar-15-mithat-unsal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/web.infn.it\/strings\/seminar-mar-15-mithat-unsal\/","title":{"rendered":"Seminar Mar 15: Mithat \u00dcnsal"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><br>On March 15 we will have a seminar by<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Mithat \u00dcnsal <\/strong>(North Carolina State)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Title<\/strong>: Adiabatic continuity, mixed anomalies and semi-classical<br>description of confinement<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Abstract<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">I describe an \u00a0anomaly-preserving compactification of four dimensional gauge theories, including Yang-Mills theory, its supersymmetric version and QCD, down to 2d by turning on &#8216;t Hooft flux through a 2-torus. This provides a new framework to analytically calculate nonperturbative properties such as confinement, chiral symmetry breaking, and multi-branch structure of vacua. We give the semiclassical description of these phenomena based on the center vortices, and show that it enjoys the same anomaly matching condition with  the original 4d gauge theory. For YM, the long distance theory maps to TQFT deformed by local topological operators.
