WP3: fixed-target setup
The experimental setup necessary for the first search of the charm baryon EDM is developed in WP3, and is based on new elements in the LHC. This represents one of the main challenges of SELDOM and consists of: 1) bent crystals for the deflection of 7 TeV protons from the beam halo, 2) tungsten target intercepting the deflected halo where charm baryons are produced, 3) long-bent crystals to channel charm baryons and induce spin precession.
