The "XX Seminar on Software for Nuclear, Subnuclear and Applied Physics" is organized by INFN, University of Sassari and the “SNAKE” (Sharing Software Knowledge) no-profit organisation.

It will be held at Porto Conte Hotel, Alghero (Sardinia, Italy) from June 4th to June 9th 2023.


The Seminar is aimed at PhD students and researchers, interested in software and its applications. It is structured in topical didactic units, lectures and practical sessions on the recent software developed for fundamental physics as well as for applied physics. This year the seminars will focus on Machine Learning in Physics.
Moreover, a beginner course on the Geant4 Monte Carlo toolkit is organized within the Seminar, featuring lessons and practical exercises given by Geant4 Collaborators. The Seminar will also include a basic course on scientific programming in Python, and a more advanced course on the use of machine learning techniques in Python.

A limited number of grants are available. They will cover the school fees and/or the accommodation. No support for travel expenses is available. The deadline for applications is March 15th 2023.


Ph.D. students and young researchers can apply by submitting a curriculum vitae, an abstract on their research activity and register to the Indico page. Applications by participants not registered to the Indico page will be discharged. Grant winners will present their research activity in a dedicated session.

In addition, for interested people, a test examination will be performed at the end of the school and a written certificate with grade will be issued.
