The physics cases span from transfer reactions with n-rich beams in reverse kinematics (the compatibility with gas target operation is under study) to gamma spectrometry of evaporation residues stopped in a suitable adsorber mounted on the focal plane of a zero-degree spectrometer used in gas-filled-mode..
As a consequence, GALILEO proponents, strongly overlapping with AGATA and PRISMA activities, are in strict contact with other projects on progress at Legnaro concerning next-generation gamma spectrometry with RIBs; synergies are present also with european groups, mainly the big community of the RISING, HECTOR campaign.
Special attention is payed to the coupling of the GALILEO array to other detectors and to make the new electronics fully compatible with the systems developed within the AGATA collaboration.
