The Technology Transfer Service (STT) is responsible for protecting and enhancing the results of research, taking care of the filing and management of trademarks and patents, the signing of contracts with companies and the activities to enhance the INFN’s technology portfolio.
It provides technical support to the INFN research community for the protection of intellectual property, relations with companies and the creation of spin-offs.
It supports other INFN offices and services in the area of intellectual property.

Part of the Technology Transfer Service’s personnel was hired using funds of a grant for improvement and capacity building projects for technology transfer offices of Italian Universities, public research institutions and Research hospitals.

The National Committee for Technology Transfer (CNTT) is a strategic scientific-technological steering body.
30 Contact persons distributed throughout the territory represent the contact point for Technology Transfer activities between each INFN facility, the TT service and the National Committee.
