Galileo and Leonardo
The symbolic patrons of SRF 2027
Galileo Galilei and Leonardo da Vinci are the conference’s symbolic patrons. They represent, respectively, Padua, where Galileo spent “the best eighteen years of my entire life,” as he wrote in a letter to Fortunio Liceti, and Milan, where Leonardo experienced one of the most productive periods of his career as a painter, engineer, and scientist.
They also embody the two complementary souls of the SRF Conference: the scientific one, represented by Galileo, father of the experimental method, and the technological one, embodied by Leonardo, whose visionary designs were deeply inspired by nature.
Finally, we like to recall that both achieved their greatest successes far from their birthplaces, anticipating that sense of being citizens of the world that many of us share today.
