Electrostatic accelerator apparatus for charged particles

The system consists of a high-voltage generator built by connecting modules in series. Each module is powered wirelessly thanks to photovoltaic cells illuminated by a laser system, and it contains the control board, which enables excellent stability characteristics. The high voltage is used as an electrical potential to accelerate protons supplied by an ion source.

How does it work?

The high voltage is generated through an innovative technique: each electrode receives its own potential thanks to the connection in series of discs, which act as stabilized voltage generators. These are electrically floating, optically powered and electrically isolated. The energy necessary for their operation is transmitted via optical fibre and converted into electricity by photovoltaic cells.

This configuration makes the accelerator modular and scalable, unlike the traditional industrial solutions. The electrical insulation of the entire system is obtained by dipping the accelerator body into a dielectric liquid, thus eliminating the need for high-pressure insulating gases.

Compared to the state of the art, this solution makes it possible to create more compact, cheap, easily maintainable accelerators that can be adapted to different configurations. In addition, each voltage generator is individually stabilized, ensuring greater reliability and operational accuracy.
