Collimator for slow neutrons able to improve the spatial resolution and divergence of the neutron imaging systems. The collimator consists of air channels interspersed with absorbent elements in a checkerboard configuration.
Such a structure makes it possible to achieve beam parallelisation comparable to that obtainable with a conventional pin-hole collimator, but with a considerably more compact system, making it possible to create neutron imaging apparatuses that are much smaller than those currently available.
