Electrostatic grating group for particle accelerators

Component for particle accelerators, made by additive manufacturing, which performs the dual function of precisely pointing the beam towards a target and compensating for the electrostatic repulsion between the accelerated particles.

How does it work?

The system consists of a series of gratings with a special shape, referred to as a “lemon-shape”, which allows to have different radii of curvature along the vertical and horizontal axes in order to act differently on the two dimensions of the particle beam and thus be able to shape it at will.
