Vacuum and radio-frequency metal gasket without brazing

This invention allows the assembly of complex metal structures without using brazings, ensuring vacuum sealing and radio-frequency contact between the components.

How does it work?

The invention is based on two elements: a special metal gasket and the assembly technique. The gasket is made of the same material as the components to be connected and is designed to ensure perfect alignment between the two parts, while reducing the risk of electrical discharges.

The invention ensures the connection of structures while maintaining ultra-high vacuum up to 10-8 ÷ 10-10 mbar and electrical continuity in RF fields up to tens of MW.

Applications

  • Precision manufacturing and assembly of vacuum systems
  • Creation of components for radio-frequency structures
  • Particle accelerators
  • Nuclear reactors
  • Vacuum cooling systems
  • Apparatuses for high-energy physics
  • Aerospace components

Advantages

  • It replaces vacuum brazing, simplifying the process and reducing component failure rate
  • The absence of vacuum oven treatments speeds up the assembly process
  • Excellent performance in high-gradient radio-frequency fields is guaranteed
